Public Correspondence Policy
Whitewater Township values public input and strives to be transparent in how we handle written comments and emails.
How Correspondence Is Handled
• All correspondence about township business becomes part of the public record.
• Comments may be shared with the appropriate board or commission, but not all will appear in meeting packets.
Meeting Packets
• Packets include documents directly related to agenda items.
• Due to high volumes, not all emails or letters can be included.
Meeting Minutes
• Only comments made during the meeting (spoken aloud) are included in the official minutes.
• Emails or letters are not automatically added unless discussed at the meeting and agreed upon by vote of the Board.
Access to Public Comments
• All correspondence is available upon request under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
